Ocean Clutter Characterization Based on PolSAR Data and Second-Order Statistics of Elementary Scatterers

New features are proposed for sea clutter characterization when PolSAR data employed. Cameron coherent target decomposition is applied to characterize each SAR pixel by means of the 8 basic elementary scatterers obtained this decomposition. Since examined does not match exactly a specific ideal scatterer, closest scatterer assigned along with its distance (closeness) from one. The (a) percentage in investigated region; (b) distribution closeness declared scattering mechanism counterpart; (c) co-occurrence same mechanism, taking into consideration one; and (d) different mechanisms pairs, again their ones.
